How to see who unfollowed you on X (Twitter)
X only shows your follower count going down, not who left. How to compare two snapshots of your followers list and get the names, for free, or have it checked daily.
X does not tell you. It shows your follower count, and when it drops there is no list of who left. The way to find out is to keep two snapshots of your followers list, a week or a month apart, and compare them. Whoever is in the old one and not the new one is no longer following you: most of them unfollowed, some deactivated or were suspended. It is worth a look at the account before drawing conclusions.
This guide does that with Creel, a Chrome extension I make. It reads your followers list through the X session already signed in to your browser and does the comparison on your computer. It does not ask for your password and does not connect an app to your X account.
The free way: compare two snapshots
- Install Creel from the Chrome Web Store and pin it.
- Take the first snapshot. Open your profile on X, click the Creel icon and choose Followers. Let it finish in the Download Manager.
- Wait. A week is a good gap; any gap works.
- Take the second snapshot the same way: your profile, Followers.
- Compare. In the Download Manager, open the menu on the newer followers export and choose Compare with an earlier run. Pick the earlier snapshot. For the same account, the file lists who was added and who is gone since then.
The file is a spreadsheet with a change column (added or removed) and the full profile of each account: username, name, bio, follower count and more.
The catch on the free plan: each export saves up to 1,000 accounts. If you have more than 1,000 followers, two free snapshots each hold a different slice of the list, and the comparison will show changes that did not happen. Above 1,000 followers you need Pro, a one-time $19.99 with no Creel limit. On very large lists X can also stop handing out pages before the end, so check that both snapshots have about the number of followers your profile shows.
Usernames change, IDs don't
Many unfollower trackers compare usernames, so someone who renamed their account shows up as "unfollowed" and as a "new follower" at once. Creel compares accounts by X's numeric account ID and only falls back to the username when an ID is missing, so a rename is not counted as a change.
Have it checked for you (Max)
With Max, a followers export can Auto update daily or weekly while Chrome is open. After each run the export shows the changes since the last one, for example "3 new, 2 unfollowed", with Download changes for the names. Creel can also send a notification, "Follower changes for @you", with the counts.
The same works for Following, if you want to know whom you followed and unfollowed.

Other ways, honestly
- Apps that connect to your account can track unfollowers continuously, but they need access to your X account through a connected app, and most are subscriptions. Check the permissions they ask for under X's Settings, Security and account access, Apps and sessions.
- Your X archive includes a list of your followers, so two archives a few weeks apart can be compared by hand in a spreadsheet. Each archive takes a few days to prepare.
Questions
Can I see who unfollowed someone else? You can export any account's followers list, so yes: two snapshots of their list compare the same way.
Does X notify the person? No. Reading a followers list is the same as scrolling it on X.
Will it catch accounts that were suspended or deleted? They drop out of the list too, so they show up as removed. The file has their username, so you can check.
Plans are on the Creel page. To export the list itself, see how to export X followers to a spreadsheet.
